Mustardseeds aplenty

In response to a recent request I thought I would give you a little peek behind the scenes in creating Stephanie's Mustardseed...

So I was sitting in the aforementioned ACTION orientation brainstorming with another candidate about what she should call her newsletter. We were looking at examples and many of them were alliterations or rhymes, however she was looking up W's and I tried looking up S's and it just wasn't going so well.

All of a sudden it was May and my first update needed to come out and I just knew that I couldn't live with an alliteration for the rest of however long that I put out my newsletters. Then it came to me: Stephanie's Mustardseed! I didn't really even think much about it, just decided on it and went from there.

Sounds uneventful, but I think it was a little input straight from God, because the meaning has really built from there. I've been looking up the mustardseed verses in the Bible and taking to heart that this- my first real missions assignment after all my schooling- is truly a big step of faith and will require more! I particularly like the way Matthew 17:19-20 talks about faith and mustardseeds:

"Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, 'Why could we not drive it out?' And He said to them, 'Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you."

May I have this kind of faith. And you, too. May you have this kind of faith. It's so good to remember that God already knows our shortcomings and He is prepared for us to fall and fail and to not live up to His Godly perfection. Yet, He is honored by so little. By our having a small amount of faith and entrusting it to Him completely He will do great things through us.

:) Stephanie
