Thanksgiving...
So, being in the bush we get kind of out of it. There is little outside and new information and resources. But, Susie, Mike, and I had been planning on making a trip up to Lusaka for American Thanksgiving since retrieving me from the city in early October.
Tuesday or the week before we were supposed to leave for Lusaka this conversation took place-
Susie talking on the phone to Shannon (Canadian with AZ in Lusaka): Yeah, we're coming up for Thanksgiving, we'll see you next week.
Shannon: Really? I thought your Thanksgiving was this Thursday.
Susie: Wait a minute, I think your right.
Shannon: So, are you still coming?
Susie: No way, we've been planning this trip for over a month and moved all our clinics and everything and we are going to miss Thanksgiving! This is Mr. Motorcycle's fault! He's the one who said it was the last Thursday of November!
Stephanie texts Mr. Motorcycle: Hey, when is Thanksgiving?
Mr. Motorcycle: The third Thursday of the month, as always.
Oh brother. So, we missed Thanksgiving in Lusaka, but were able to have a nice Thanksgiving 'bush-style' with our South African teammates! ;)
Our cook, Mr. John helped with a lot of preparation and made awesome pumpkin fritters and roast chicken, Susie made plenty of stuffing, and I made rolls.
